Why participate in IT and Data Center Sustainability!!

Participating on the committee responsible for IT and data center sustainability will afford the opportunity to standardize assessment methods, design practices, operation and management aspects that support resource efficiencies, resilience, and environmental sustainability for and by information technology systems and data centers.

The INCITS/IT and Data Center Sustainability is the technical committee that addresses these areas.

An organization’s data center stores, processes, and disseminates data and supports the organization’s applications and services. Data centers are critical infrastructures for an organization, vital to the continuity of daily operations and uninterrupted services. A data center utilizes physical servers, storage devices, and networking equipment, along with the critical power, cooling, and security, to work together to ensure applications are available.

IT sustainability is dependent on the efficient use of resource consumption required to provide the IT services. IT sustainability is measured by monitoring and tracking key performance indicators (KPI). Defining KPI’s that provide meaningful analysis is critical to IT sustainability. INCITS/IT and Data Center Sustainability technical committee is responsible for developing a holistic suite of metrics to help evaluate resource efficiency.
